3 Affordable and Fun Family Vacation Ideas
Summer is here and you know what that means…school’s out and the kids are home to play. Or perhaps more appropriately – your home just got a little zanier.
This time of the year is the best for taking family vacations and putting all the extra at-home work aside for a bit. Don’t worry if you don’t have plans yet for the perfect vacation. There are plenty of fun and affordable trips you can devise without breaking the bank.
These aren’t your typical family vacations to the beach like everybody else. This list is for those looking for something affordable and adventurous.
1. National Park Trip
A family that travels together, stays together. What better way to enjoy a week away from home than venturing out into the wilderness and experiencing some of the best places that Earth has to offer.
National parks are a fun and affordable way to disconnect from technology and explore nature as a family. According to Outdoorsy, there are even a number of days in 2017 where United States national parks are free to enter.
Mapping out a few of these national parks, renting an RV for the week, and hitting the open road would be the perfect way to create an enjoyable and memorable experience for you and the kids.
2. Animal Lover’s Paradise
Kids love animals, and at the San Diego Zoo, that’s exactly what you will find and so much more. One of the top 10 biggest zoos in the world, San Diego houses a number of wildlife animals, including the most pandas in a location outside of mainland China.
Right there is also the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, where similar to Disney, you can go on a safari tour to see lions, giraffes, elephants, zebras, and other African native animals.
Don’t make the mistake in thinking this trip is just for kids, though. San Diego also happens to be one of the best places in America for craft beers and live concerts. Plus, the beach is also nearby if you want to have a traditional fun-in-the-sun day.
3. Family Cruise
Last but certainly not least, a family cruise is a great way for both parents and kids alike to unwind.
Off-season cruises to Alaska to see the glaciers can be an unforgettable experience at a bargain price. Or, if you prefer, there are also plenty of Caribbean cruises and excursions as well.
Many cruises these days offer all-inclusive packages and travel and airfare, making planning your trip much less of a headache than in years’ past.
The kids will enjoy the experience of being on a giant cruise liner in the middle of the ocean while hanging out with other youngsters, and you will enjoy unwinding in a place other than your cluttered living room.
Family vacations are all about, you guessed it, family. No matter where you end up, the most important thing is enjoying a week off from your day-to-day life with the ones you love.
A national park trip can be a great way to relax in nature. The San Diego Zoo could be perfect for animal lovers of all kinds. Or a cruise might just be the getaway you need.
Whatever the case, enjoy it. Love it. Cherish it. These precious moments with your kids will be invaluable later in life.
