Candy Japan who kindly sent me this box to review sends out a monthly box filled with special candies from Japan! The theme of Aprils box was “Tea” and most of the candy had a red bean paste filling, who would have thought red bean paste could taste so good? It’s like chocolate caramel!
Candy Japan Review April 2014

Price – $25 Month

Boxes can take upto a month to arrive since they are sent from Japan and have to go through customs and everything, my box came in pretty decent condition and the candy was perfect, definitely worth the wait!
My box was filled with candy! It also included teabags!
Many of the Candies contain red bean paste. Yellow squares and white wrapped squares “monaka”, with red bean paste inside wafers made from mochi. The round ones are “momoyama”, baked goods containing white bean paste. If you were to visit a Japanese home and had an elderly woman prepare green tea and sweets for you to enjoy, they might be something like the sweets included in this box.
I haven’t tried the tea yet, but I’m guessing it’s green tea so i’m sure it will give me some energy when I need it! The candies, I haven’t seen anything like them before! The red bean paste (which i’m sure is flavored) tastes like caramel and chocolate and has a really creamy sugary texture. The little baked cake bit candies are so sweet and delicious I want more!
The box was completely filled with candy, this is definitely a fantastic deal! Of course I can’t do a price breakdown on everything since most of the candy is in Japanese, but overall the box has fantastic value, you really can’t find candy like that in america (not that I am aware off) and the curation of the box is wonderful!
