Don’t tell anyone BUT my favorite movie of the year is none other than.. wait for it.. The EMOJI Movie!  Being totally honest here, I never watched the trailer and I had no idea what to expect, I imagined little bubbles running around being silly, making faces and telling jokes. Yes, seriously, that’s what I thought The Emoji Movie would be about.  I had to check it out for myself and my son who is like, the BIGGEST emoji fan ever was super excited to see it too, my whole family was excited to see what would unfold.

My (Slightly) Spoiler Free Review)

If you haven’t yet seen the movie, I don’t want to spoil it by revealing the story, YES, there is a story, it’s not just a bunch of crazy emoji’s running around being silly.  I will reveal a few things so if you haven’t seen the movie, skip this paragraph and move onto the next.  Gene (Meh Emoji), is the main character, all the Emoji’s live inside a kids phone. Gene starts out training to be Meh but he has a dysfunction that allows him to be happy, sad an show all of the other emotions, being Meh doesn’t come naturally to him so he has to practice!

He ends up getting in some trouble with Smiler the boss, pretty much because he sucks at being Meh.  A lot of stuff goes down so Gene and his friend Hi-5 take off inside the phone, they meet a girl who is a hacker (but she’s hiding something!), and all chaos ensues.

From a sweet story to some nasty villains who love kitties, this movie has everything and much more that makes a great movie!  One of my favorite parts is when they all have to play Just Dance, there are some magic moments, hilarious moments and you MUST pick up a copy of The Emoji Movie if you have yet to see it! When you put together a bunch of great actors and comedians like Anna Faris and James Corden as the voice of a charahcter, the movie was sure to be a hit! The DVD is filled with great sounds, bright colors, dance moves and everything you need for a great family night in!
