Healthy Lifestyle Choices with Triple Play

“I FELL BETTER WHEN” is a key mantra for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and at the start of the new year so many people recommit to improving their health and wellness through daily behavioral changes and these can have a long term, lasting impact.  It’s important to make these changes at a young age and Triple Play is focused on these types of healthy lifestyle changes. Personally, I feel better when my family is healthy and when we spend lots of time together watching and doing the things that we love.

As a mom of 3, I have learned so much throughout my years of parenting and it’s a constant learning experience, but one thing we all want is the best for out little ones, we want them to grow up strong, to have a healthy lifestyle, to be happy and to live their lives to the fullest!  Making sure my kids experience all these things is a top priority for me and now that my oldest has started Kindergarten I feel like I miss him more than he misses me so I try and spend as much time as possible with him!  Here are 3 ways I try and make every day healthy and fulfilling for my little ones –

Healthy Eating

I try and incorporate as much fruit and vegetables into my little ones diet as much as possible.  My daughter Sophia will literally eat anything and seems to love fruit and veg more than anything else so she is the easy one when it comes to food!  My son Dylan will only certain foods, he won’t touch a vegetable or any type of fruit so I make sure he at least has kids vitamin c treats and drinks each day to help with that part of his healthy eating habits.

Outdoor Fun

I try and get my kids outside as much as possible, in the Summer we go cycling a lot and I this year I will be getting my oldest into a lot more sports, he is so energetic, he gets bored easily, so sports are a good way to keep him active!  We love to go swimming too, my son learned to swim a few years ago and now it’s my daughters turn, she is learning!  Right now we have about 8 inches of snow so sledding and other Winter sports have been keeping us busy!

Family Time

When we are indoors, we spend most of our time together as a family, playing games, doing crafts, watching movies and we love to cook together!  Recently my son has really been enjoying baking, I love that he loves to help, we talk whilst we’re baking, I explain how the kitchen tools work and my husband and daughter love to get involved too, it’s a really good way for us to do something physical indoors and spend quality time together.

BGA’s Triple Play is a game plan for mind, body and soul, they encourage and strive to improve the overall health of members from ages 6 to 18.  I have learned so much from Triple Play these last few weeks and will be incorporating some of their game plan into out every day lives. One thing I need to do more is get involved in some of my sons school activities and make sure he is as involved as possible too, parental involvement is super important when it comes to schooling, it also contributes to our little ones achievement and healthy development!
