Travel Smarter with Garmin

Disclosure: I am part of the Garmin Influencer Program and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.

I purchased my brand new minivan last year, I pretty much didn’t have too much of a choice since I now have 3 kids, the van is huge and there is lots of room for everyone, but with it being so huge, I find it harder to keep an eye on my kids, especially 3 of them.

I have 2 problems when I am out and about driving.

I use my phone as my GPS, It’s not the best idea, I will never, ever text or talk on my phone whilst driving but since I don’t a good GPS system, my phone is the only option for me right now to quickly map out where I am going.

My oldest two like to fight in the car sometimes, they are kids, kids fight, I know, but I constantly have to turn around and tell the one who is in the wrong to stop bugging the other one, it gets old.

I won’t be using my phone to map anything out for much longer as I will be testing out the Garmin Drive Device!  I personally love Garmin GPS systems, my husband has one in his car and he loves it!

Having a Personal Navigation Device allows you to have better driver safety and awareness, when I use my phone for directions, it doesn’t feel safe. Anything can happen to your phone, it can fall between the seats, start buzzing and that will most certainly be a distraction from keeping your eyes on the road.

A Garmin PND stays in your line of sight and provides alerts like school zones, speed changes and more, to keep you and your passengers alert and aware. One thing I worry about is school zones, they aren’t always easy to see around here, sometimes the lights don’t flash and kids are getting out of school so I always like to know when I am in a school zone in case kids are out so I can slow down.

The Garmin Drive is easy to use and has a 5.0-inch dual-orientation display, it’s preloaded with detailed maps of the U.S. or U.S. and Canada (depending on the model) and the Garmin Real Directions™ feature guides like a friend, using landmarks and traffic lights.

You can also find new and popular restaurants, shops and more with Foursquare, I love this option as I am always looking for new places!

As you can see, my minivan is pretty big and has 3 rows of seats so another Garmin product I am super excited to learn about is the Garmin babyCam, it easily pairs up with a Garmin Personal Navigation Device, in the next few weeks I will be testing out both products and sharing my experience with everyone so stay tuned!
